My 1st GIVEAWAY!!!!

If your visiting from Blogger.com Hello!!!

Well, the time has come. It's time for me to get on the Giveaway band wagon and I am super excited about this too! Since I share my favorite snacks and foodie loves on my blog I figured my 1st giveaway should be for something I am truly just obsessed with that people may also love as much as I do. So what better snack and obsession than.....

LUNA BARS.

YUM.

I have been in love with Luna Bars since after I had Avery. I received a few mini bars in my hospital bag and was hooked. I'm not a fan of many protein bars due to their course texture and bitter taste or spongy consistency but Luna bars raise the bar on protein bars. (I know, whomp whomp)

Seriously with amazing flavors like Iced Oatmeal Cookie, Chcocolate Raspberry and Chocolate Dipped Coconut (my personal fave) you just can't go wrong.

2 Lucky winners will receive a BOX of their favorite flavor Luna Bar.
Be sure to check out their website too! http://www.lunabar.com/

Here's 3 easy ways to enter the giveaway!!!

1: Enter on Twitter by posting this tweet.
I want to win! @BrittTheHLC is having a LUNABAR giveaway on her blog!!

2: Like "The Healthy Living Chick" on FB

3. Write a comment for each way you entered as well as what your favorite Luna Bar flavor is and why.

Super easy, right?!

I'll announce the winner on THURSDAY so be sure to tweet it up, like on FB and share your thoughts on which one you'd like to have for yourself.

GOOD LUCK!

Nom Nom Nom

If you are anything like me, you kinda have this obsession with food. Not so much food in general because hey, we all need it and love it obviously, but I mean certain foods that just make your world go round or lift you up when your sad, sick or tired.

For me it's snacking. Oh yes, I can eat my 3 squares just fine but when it comes to the time in between those meal times...I'm snacking. Before I started running and actually taking care of myself it was all the bad things...candy, chips, soda, etc. We're all guilty of this, we're human. I can remember standing in front of the fridge at 2am plenty of times thinking to myself "Why are we here doing this? you're not hungry, go to bed!" and still reaching for the ice cream or some other thing I didn't need. Don't get me wrong, every once in awhile I find it necessary to just eat something not on your typical food list anymore. Splurge on that candy, drink that soda....but there has to be a balance.

You have to find your balance.

For me, my balance came when I was pregnant with Avery. I suddenly couldn't stand the sugary treats, or soda. I no longer craved the chips and fast food. Oddly, my biggest cravings were for salads, green tea and sour skittles. After Avery arrived and I was breast feeding I had to limit certain foods for both our benefits and that opened my eyes to a whole new kind of healthy eating, I never thought I'd fall in love with things like yogurt, dried fruits, granola, omegas, protein shakes and smoothies. Let alone stick with them after I stopped breast feeding. My current must haves are Greek yogurt, almonds and granola bars.

How about you? I want to know what your favorite snacks are and what you do for that balance we all need, so share away.

Here are a few of my current must haves....

dried cherries are so hard to find so when I do I get a little giddy. I dare you to add these to a baked good recipe and NOT fall in love.

As you can tell from the bag, I love me some pistachios....

My two fave flavors from my two fave bars.

These are amazing and have replaced my Klondike bars.

So good and easy to carry in your purse or gym bag.

Veggies, veggies, veggies.

Now, I'm hungry. :)

Sharing is Caring

So it's no secret I love finding new things to try and when I like something I usually like to spread the word about it so others may enjoy my awesome finds. Lately my search has gotten bigger as I am more determined to stick to my goals for this year of cooking more (healthier and quick ideas too), finding healthier alternatives to the things I love and exercising more.

Here are a few of my recent finds....

Kraft has these new dinner meal packs that I found in the cheese section last week. All you do is add the meat, shake in the already given bags of breading and cheese mix and bake. So easy and so Delicious!!! Also, only 100 calories! So far we've tried Italian Parmesan Chicken and Chile Lime pork chops and they only cost $2.08 can't beat that.

While buying stocking stuffer last minute I found this little jewel. Oh yeah, mini travel sized Nutella. BLISS. I'm so addicted to this stuff and yet it's just not good for you. So this way I can still get a very small dose of my favorite hazelnut spread and not feel guilty about a huge jar staring at me in the pantry at 2am just begging to be devoured.

Actual size*

Since Evans parents bought me a Kurig for Christmas, I have been LOVING my mornings with a nice cup of coffee (no more Starbucks!). While in Denver his aunt let me try this creamer and Evan even liked it! I know, sounds weird to have coconut flavoring in your coffee or hot chocolate but try it sometime. I really like it but I also don't use it in every cup. I'm sure this huge bottle (times sure have changed in that product line, I literally stood in front of the creamer case for 15minutes trying to find a non fancy flavor!) will last me a few months. Yum-O.

And for a nice announcement...
You can now check out The Healthy Living Chick on Facebook! Very new project for me but it's up and slowly going so feel free to like it and spread the news to other people.
Check it out! just search for The Healthy Living Chick

Hope your Monday is off to a good start. We're potty training this week and today has been a very cold and rainy day so it's been a netflix kind of day. :)

Confession

Before I even start this entry up I have to stop for a second and share my latest obsession.... Yeah, try it and fall in love! I've tried Greek yogurts before and found them to be bitter and just blah and the first time I gave this a try I wasn't impressed either but now....yeah.... I especially love it with Peach, Goji Berry and Honey. Mmmm Mmmm mmmm.

Call it this crazy cold weather Texas is having, it's currently 29 and expected to go as low as 25 tonight (Um, Snow? really?!) or business with life (valid but not acceptable) or even the guilt I'm feeling about my work-out failure last month as I sit here crying while I watch the Biggest Loser.

In the words of my toddler...."Mommy, youuve got splainin do!"

I did not run or workout at the gym a single day last month! Yep, what a waste of $32.92

CORRECTION: I ran 1.4 miles in North Carolina

Ugh.

I wish I had the motivation I seem to think I have. I honestly do not understand how I let a whole month go by! I intend to get my tush back to the gym in the morning and refuse to leave until I am miserable (the good kind and yes, it exist). I have 2 races coming up in Feb. so I also need to get my rear out running regardless of how cold it is. E told me to just remind myself that the sooner I get my run over the sooner I can get warmer and that should help me reach my personal goal. Isn't he a gem? :)

I have so much going on and to prepare for. I'll be going on a very quick day trip with my Father-in-love to NM on the 16th, A's family Birthday shin-dig on the 18th, her 3rd birthday on the 19th, then Christmas in a cabin in the mountains of NM, followed by a few days with family in Colorado, then our Anniversary and of course NYE. December is BUSY.

Help keep me accountable folks, ream me out if you need to or better yet, share your motivation and what keeps you in motion. A friend told me I should post a picture of me at my heaviest in the bathroom mirror so I see it every time I look.

*Blog Note* I'm ready to make my mark in the blog world. E has agreed I can buy my own Domain and I think I'm going to do it and start taking my blog to the next step with more pics and food sharing and all that jazz. I'm really excited about this and I know after December I'll have more time to focus with.

Also, once I reach 10 followers I plan on doing my first giveaway!!!

So much to get excited over.
