Living Life.

Ever since I started HLC I set out on a serious mission. To actually practice what I was preaching! Living Healthy, Living Life, Living Free. Three very easy (or seemingly easy) rules to live by to live a full, happy, healthy and regret free life. Right? Add in a blog for accountability purposes and Ta-Da!

In the 9 months of my transition I have hit several high and low points (I am human after all) but the biggest thing was that I am sticking to it! Do I blog all the time? No. Do I benge eat or do crazy diets? No. Do I exercises every day? Not close. However. Do I eat healthier and make better food choices? Yes. Do I guilt myself for having dessert? No. Do I exercise regularly? Yes.

It's all about your perspective and your ambition. Setting realistic goals and reminding yourself that it's okay to go at it on your rules and at your pace. It doesn't matter if your blog doesn't look as cool as others you read, it's not about how many followers you have, how often you post, if you don't count calories, join a gym, follow a workout routine or if you only run 3 days a week.

Do it for YOU. Do what makes YOU happy.

Alright well, enough beating around the bush...

In the part of living free and figuring out a way to help my goals for this chapter of living a healthy lifestyle I made a bucket list...yes, a bucket list. I made one years back in an old journal and every once in awhile when I stumble upon it I have been able to add the dates to the events after I cross it off the list and that feeling, as quick and seemingly nonimportant makes me so happy and feel accomplished.

A bucket list doesn't have to necessarily be these HUGE events, they can be small goals or dreams that you set out to obtain. It can be a vision board you visually see everyday, a small checklist you check often, anything you wish to make it.

Mine is simply an updated list from my old list I made in 2003. Once I accomplish something from the list, I take a photo (if applicable) and write an entry about it. Like my latest accomplishment on my bucket list.

I wanna know: If YOU had a bucket list, what would be on it?

Catching up is hard to do...

Feels like forever since I truly blogged.

Been fighting the losing end of a cold this week which has zapped my humanity and left me as a huge lump on the couch. Thank goodness for Kuerig hot tea, kleenex and netflix (AMEN!). Texas has had some much needed and long lasting rain the past 2 days so it's been an added lazy day to boot.

I promise to update more. with Evan and I doing several 5ks next month I'll be very busy with my training and now with a new year to obtain my healthy eating goals I'm looking at some fun dishes to try out on my unsuspecting, er, willing family.

Speaking of food, I have signed up to be a part of Foodie Penpal it's seems like a fun thing to look forward to every month and to blog about. Pretty much, you get matched up with another person and with a $15 max you fill a box full of goodies and mail it out. By the end of the month you blog about what you received in your box. I can't wait to receive and send out my first box. I'm very excited about this. :)

No January running mix. I'm being honest with my readers, this month I haven't ran all but 2 measly miles and therefore have no mix to share. Feel free to share with me some of your current songs to run/workout too. I'll need them to keep me going for my 5ks next month. *gulp*

Wish me luck today. I got to my OB to start the baby planning. Not sure if I shared it on the blog but we're ready to start trying for baby#2. You can catch up about my more personal entries on the family blog The Hartfield Files

Evan and I are getting ready to spend a lot of time together as we start training together. He's a much better/faster runner than I am and yet he's never done a 5k. Nor has he ever seemed interested in things I get fired up about. I truly think I confused him when I told him last August I was starting a new blog and we were cleaning house on all the crap food/drinks in our home and how he wasn't ever allowed to eat McDonald's or Jack in the box again!
Evan and I  a year after we were married
LOOK HOW SKINNY WE WERE!

Life is about to get extra interesting/busy and healthier. I'm so excited about it all too.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Be Back Soon....

I'm sitting here sipping my vanilla coke zero and nibbling on my granola bits when I should be back in the bedroom finishing up my last minute cleaning list and packing.

I fly to North Carolina tomorrow morning for 7 days. I'll also be going ALONE. This will be the first time I've traveled alone and only the 3rd time I have left A for longer than a day. I know E and my amazing in-loves will be able to handle her but the mom in me is feeling beyond guilty right now, and I haven't even left yet!!

Pray for me, sweet readers. This week will be exciting as I visit my sister and my newborn niece and help her get in the swing of mommyhood, but it'll also be hard for me to not be with A for such a long period of time.

E also teased me this morning as I laid out everything I planned on packing. "You know you have more running gear than actual clothes to wear, right?"...Yes, dear I'm aware. :) I'm just a little excited to go running/hiking in the mountains.

Have a great week everyone, I'll have some fun post lined up when I get back.(Pics too!)

Monday's Musings

What is it about vacation that makes you totally lose focus on your routine? I swear I did more than I normally do in a day but I also ate more than I do and I never counted a single calorie all weekend. It'll be interesting when I weigh in later today to say the least.

I must stop and give myself a pat on the back and for a few of you who know me well may get a giggle out of this for me...others....well, you may not understand why this is a HUGE thing for me. I actually packed workout clothes for this vacation and I did indeed workout twice at the resorts gym. Yep. There I was in my workout glory on vacation sweating it up and oohing and ahhhing and begging E to buy me a super fancy treadmill and elliptical machine so I can feel snarky and get fit quicker without worrying about making other resort guests shudder as they passed the wall of glass and witnessed me running in my new spandex running Capri's and baggy Texas Longhorn tee.

It was so rewarding. E and I used every machine they offered while his parents watched A for us. I doubt I have ever pushed myself that hard in over an hour of time but I was determined to not let those rich desserts and huge platters of food I had enjoyed during the day get the better of me when I was weighing in and back to the reality that vacations never last long enough. I was tempted to take pictures but I only kept that for family time and not the ridiculous blogger in me going "Nobody will believe smore's look like this or are this huge!" or even "E, can you take a picture of me in my sweaty messiness to show proof that I actually worked out? Make sure to get a butt shot in these new running Capri's too...I look awesome in them!"

Yeah...those convos did actually take place in my mind.....

Moving right along....

I also MUST share some fun news. I joined an amazing blog community and am now listed with TONS of amazing people blogging for the sole purpose of sharing Living Healthy and taking care of ourselves by being active, eating healthy and living life to the best we possibly can. Be sure to check them all out at http://healthylivingblogs.com/

I think once I get enough followers on here I may start doing some fun things like give-aways and challenges. I seriously have some big plans for this blog and this is officially my "2nd baby" as E likes to jokingly refer to it. I'm also looking into having this it's own website and breaking free of the blogger style of it all. We'll see where this leads me. I started this as an outlet of my weight loss journey and helpful tool into our transition into living healthy and taking care of ourselves better as a family. As long as I keep enjoying this then I'll keep it up.

How was your weekend? Do anything fun?
I'll share a pic of A & I on vacation this weekend. Enjoy.
